Divorce and Financial Settlement UK
Formally agreeing your finances upon divorce is important to secure your future and move forward with clarity.
Reaching a divorce and financial settlement is not a mandatory element of divorce. However it is highly advantageous and prevents your spouse or partner from trying to make a financial claim against you in the future. Even if your divorce is amicable and your finances have been kept separate throughout the relationship, we recommend reaching an agreement and having a Consent Order for peace of mind.
Financial agreements involve deciding who takes property, pensions, shares, savings and other relevant assets on finalisation of the divorce.
We can advise you how to achieve an early financial settlement and guide you as to the likely asset split. We recognise that you need support and empathy during the process, however we will also provide realistic and strategic advice. From our years of experience, this approach can protect you from impersonal court proceedings where you can feel lost and helpless.
There a few hard and fast rules for settling financial matters and maintenance on divorce and separation, and we can navigate you through the various principles and guidelines which may apply to you and any children you may have.
We are experts in alternative dispute resolution methods, such as collaborative law and mediation, which aim to avoid court altogether. However, if financial proceedings are necessary, our team will work with you to work out with you the best strategy to try to realise your goals. Our solicitors will direct litigation with excellent case control to manage costs and make the process as efficient as possible.
We can also assist you if your case has international disputes as we have extensive links with firms around the world and can refer you on to specialists in other jurisdictions where appropriate.
Our Procedural Guides and articles are free to download from this website and will be a valuable aid to you during the process.

Divorce is a very harrowing, stressful and personal event Punam was warm and approachable but super efficient and succinct with it. Genuinely staggered at how smooth a process she made it. I wholeheartedly recommend Punam after a very positive experience myself.

Blanchards supported my difficult and complex legal proceedings. They navigated every detail with high competence and provided confidence and reassurance at every step.
